I'VE PICKED MY FIGHT!!

In the past I have wondered if there was more I could do for all those people who I have seen battle cancer, and here is my answer. My wife and I are going to run in the Livestrong Challenge 5-K in San Jose, California, and hopefully raise a little money along the way. I am running because my family and friends are no strangers to cancer. I would love to be able to tell you that I am dedicating my run against cancer to just one person, but unfortunately I can’t because cancer has affected my life through so many people. My mom is a two time survivor of malignant melanoma, my mother-in-law is currently battling a rare type of uterine cancer, my dad’s best friend was diagnosed with melanoma of the eye, my brother-in-law’s dad passed away from cancer, my wife’s uncle passed away from cancer, the leader of my team’s wife currently is fighting cancer, and many of my friends have had family or friends of their own battle cancer--too many to name them all.

I also know that these people are not the only ones; there are so many more. I know what cancer does to people and families, the ups, the downs, the wins and the losses. If I can help just one family not have to join this emotional roller coaster than running a couple of miles is more than worth it.
